New Kitchen Garden

How it all started

With the need to leave the farm at Miller Hill we started our search for a place closer to the coast. And with a new home, we needed a new garden…

Our story

So many years of gardening, starting with my grandfather’s kitchen garden. He had grown up on a farm in Norway and had established a small garden here when he came to the states. My father, being from Texas, had a bigger garden! And I have kept gardens since my kids were little and Tristan plucked radishes from our Cambridge, MA garden and ate them with the dirt still on them. We joined CSAs, hung out with farmers …  And my love for gardening has extended beyond vegetables and fruits to herbs, flowers, chickens, pollinators, a love of the very soil, the weather, the great goddess of the Earth.

My approach

My vision is to provide a way in for others. Through stories, hopefully some humor, a little bit of knowledge. The Earth is everything for us – her pulse resonates with ours, her biome with ours, her spirit feeds us, births us, and we return to her. There’s no joy without our beautiful planet. So my little blog is one little place of connection to planet, and through that, I hope, to each other.
